My final photography series is
inspired by the work of Brett Weston. His main theme for his photographs were abstraction.
I want the viewer to look at my photographs and wonder what the actual subject
is.
Most
of my photographs throughout the semester have been of subjects where you
instantly know what you are looking at and many of them were nature scenes with
natural lighting. In this series, only one of them is of something found in
nature, while all the others ones are man-made subjects. I went out of my comfort
zone to create abstract works similar to that of Brett Weston. I also like to
play with different perspectives and I did that in this series also. An example
of that is the photograph of the floor with the shadow on it. I want the viewer
to look at this photography series and see the subjects in a different way
through the abstraction that I gave them.
In
conclusion, my main goal with this photography series was to make the viewer
think and explore subjects in a new and different way. Everyday objects
transform in the way that they are presented. Brett Weston was my inspiration,
but I made the series into my own.
